Travel Beyond~ The heart of India!

Towards Hanuwantiya- A road trip

Hanuwantiya is an island situated in the reservoir of Indira Sagar dam, a dam with the second-largest reservoir in Asia, situated at the cliffs of river Narmada in the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh. This tourist destination is mainly managed and maintained by Madhya Pradesh tourism.

Known for its traditional Jal Mahotsav, Hanuwantiya offers marvellous scenes along with plenty of other recreational activities like boating, cruise ride, food and accommodation, both day as well as overnight stays.

My experience

I went to this place twice; the first time, when it was inaugurated and another a few days ago for another time. The Hanuwantiya island was quite a pleasure-giving place for both the time I visited.

Road scene on the way

Whatever the reason, I'm here to tell you that this place has some magic to it. I think a classic road trip is the best idea to visit any place as it offers you some marvellous views apart from the quite bad conditions of Indian roads (in some cases) which is a mood spoiler yet amusing!

The view behind!

If you wanna visit Hanuwantiya island, then apart from its well-known Jal Mahotsav, the best time is after the rainy season and that too in the early morning.

The flowers
The reason behind this is early morning visits to this place, specifically, provide you with less or even no crowd and more enjoyable beauty that will take you close to nature!

How to reach?

If you wanna pay a visit to this place, the nearest Airport is Indore, which is 150kms from this place. And by train, Khandwa is the nearest station, which is 50kms away. Apart from this, Google maps are the best guide if you wanna plan a road trip. Try visiting after the rainy season, as stated above, this season offers the best sights in the place.

Well, coming towards the end, I'll say that nature teaches us how to adapt to new conditions, reminds us that earth is always changing and shows us the excellence of simplicity. Get close to nature to feel the beauty and sound of silence!
