Mental Hygiene

Hey lovely people, how's the world around you? It has been a pretty long time interacting with you all. So many kinds of stuff happened meanwhile...and now since Diwali is just around the corner, I'm busy dusting and arranging things, shopping and gathering stuff from all over to make my house look beautiful and attractive. I was nearly lost in this conventional stuff when a thought from literally nowhere popped inside my heart and it tempted me to draft this blog.

Just imagine our homes shining gracefully, showcasing all the positive vibes and our minds? Dull and tired because it has already been too much into the cleaning process, it skipped to cleaning itself! Above all, the purpose of celebrating Diwali, doing too much decoration and all is everything should sparkle and emit positivity! And if everything is being taken care of, then why not our mind and body? So today, I'm gonna share with you some ideas to keep your mind clean and away from unwanted thoughts.

Do you know what exactly consciousness is? If you consider it as something passive, then you've got it wrong. Not taking this discussion too long and simply being to the point, your consciousness is the master of your genes. Try to understand it mindfully. Your life becomes a vision in your mind, where your thoughts are creating your own world! There's this really interesting thing written in chapter three, verse 43 of Bhagwat Geeta, that your body is like a vehicle, then there is this steering wheel, and your mind is driving it. Now wherever your mind turns this wheel, your body will direct. Right? And here comes the crux of the problem, and this is why meditation comes into the picture. Consciousness isn't dominating 95% of your life, but your opinion is. So, meditation is a technique of disciplining your consciousness, which as per the definition, sustains your influence over your life and your mind.

Now that I feel you've got the sense behind meditating, you must be drawn to practice it. Since I've been practising this technique for over twelve-thirteen years, I feel that I might give you an idea. There are several ways; my favourite is to practice it with guided meditation videos, which are ten-fifteen minutes long and enough to bring you back to life! You might find them easily on YouTube. Another one is practising with light music and simply focussing on the breath instead of your thoughts. That doesn't mean that you need to resist your thoughts, just let them come and go, but you need not stick with them. You just need to feel the sounds of your surroundings, and the music and focus on your breath. Sounds difficult? But it's easy. Just practice it, and you'll feel the immediate difference in the state of your mind.

Okay, so even now if some wise people feel that there's no substance in these talks, then directly telling, you are not meant for it, as of now, at least. I won't say that doing meditation will give you control of all kinds of circumstances, and you'll never get angry or sad. You can't control the situations but you can surely direct your mind as per them. You can be prepared, and that's all that makes sense of me, jotting down this entire blog, if you know you know;)
